My video project is about Islamic prayer, also called Salah. My main idea is that prayer is part of everyday life and helps keep my culture strong. It is not just something people believe in, but something they do every day. My video also shows the tension between staying committed to prayer and dealing with a busy modern life. In today’s world, people are always moving fast, so it can be difficult to stop and take time for prayer. I wanted to show how people try to balance these two things.
At the beginning of my video, I show a quiet shot of a prayer mat on the floor. This creates a calm feeling and introduces the space. It also shows that prayer starts in a simple environment, not something complicated. Then I show clips of wudu, like washing hands and face. The sound of water makes it feel real and shows preparation before prayer. These close-up shots help the viewer understand that prayer is not random—it has steps and meaning. After that, I include different parts of prayer, like standing, bowing, and going down to the ground. These part show that prayer is a repeated action and an important part of daily routine. It also shows discipline, because it happens every day, not just once in a while.
In the end of the video, I include a shot of me standing in the middle of people. This part is important because it shows the tension. This represents time, distractions, and busy life. Being around people shows how life does not stop, even when it is time to pray. The pacing here is a little faster, which creates a feeling of stress. This is different from the calm feeling at the beginning. This contrast helps the viewer understand the struggle between faith and everyday responsibilities. It also shows that keeping up with prayer takes effort and focus.
In the middle of the video, I show a quiet moment after prayer. I am sitting still, and everything feels calm again. This ending shows the peace that comes from prayer. It also shows why people continue to pray, even when life is busy. The slow pacing and silence help the viewer feel this moment. Ending the video this way makes the message clear even with stress and distractions, prayer brings balance and calm.
The tone of my video is calm and respectful. I used real sounds instead of loud music to keep it natural. This helps the audience feel like they are actually there. The calm parts create a peaceful emotion, while the busy scene creates tension. This emotional contrast helps explain my message. This is an example of pathos, because it connects to the viewer’s feelings. Even if someone is not Muslim, they can still understand the feeling of stress and the need for peace.
My project is also strong because I am part of this culture. I am showing my own experience, which makes it feel real and honest. This builds trust with the audience, which is called ethos. People are more likely to believe and understand something when it comes from a real experience. My video also uses logic, or logos, because it shows the steps of prayer in a clear order. This helps the audience or viewers understand how the process works and why it is repeated every day.
One idea that connects to my project comes from Clifford Geertz, who says “culture is built through everyday actions”0. This fits my video because prayer is something people repeat daily, and that is how culture continues. It is not just about beliefs, but about actions that people practice over time. My video shows this clearly through simple, repeated moments.
My video helps people understand Islamic prayer, even if they don’t know much about it. It shows the process, the meaning, and the struggle. However, it also has limits. It cannot fully show the deep feeling of prayer, because that is something personal and inside a person. It also does not show every Muslim experience, since everyone practices differently. Even so, it gives a clear example of how culture works in daily life.
Overall, my project shows that culture stays alive through daily actions. Even in a busy world, people still make time for what matters to them. Prayer is one way culture continues and stays strong. Through simple actions, people keep their traditions alive and pass them on over time.
